About Seulgi
Seulgi Byun is the Chair of the Biblical & Religious Studies and Philosophy department at Grove City College. Previously, he taught at Oak Hill College, a seminary in London, England, and at Gordon College. He is the author of The Influence of Post-biblical Hebrew and Aramaic on the Translator of Septuagint Isaiah (T&T Clark) and many other articles in monographs and peer-reviewed journals. He is currently working on a commentaries on Deuteronomy and Genesis, as well a popular level book on the historicity of the Old Testament. Seulgi is also the Executive Director of the Project on Rural Ministry, a Lilly Endowment funded initiative that seeks to serve rural churches and their pastors. He is also Scholar-In-Residence at his church, City Reformed Presbyterian Church, in Pittsburgh. Having lived most of his life in major metropolises around the world, he is learning to love the quieter life in rural Western Pennsylvania with his wife and four children. However, he concedes that he may never fully be accepted by the locals given his strong allegiance to Boston sports teams. Seulgi received undergraduate degrees in Economics, Biology, and Biblical Studies from Gordon College. He received his M.Div and MA from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary; he did additional graduate and post-graduate studies at Harvard University and Hebrew University (Jerusalem). He received his PhD from Cambridge University in England.
